Crawford County, March 8, 2024– Crawford County Recreation & Tourism is thrilled to announce a donation of solar eclipse glasses to all Crawford County Public School students and staff in preparation for the upcoming celestial event on April 8th. This initiative aims to provide a safe and enjoyable viewing experience for the entire community during the solar eclipse.

The solar eclipse glasses donation underscores Crawford County Recreation & Tourism’s commitment to fostering community engagement. By equipping students and staff with these essential viewing tools, the organization aims to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the celestial event.

Crawford County is gearing up for an array of exciting events centered around the April 8th solar eclipse. Residents and visitors alike are invited to partake in unique and unforgettable experiences, such as watching the eclipse on the Blue River via Cave Country Canoes. Additionally, the English Civic Club’s “Left in the Dark in English, Indiana” event promises square dancing and exceptional viewing areas, while the Crawford County Fairgrounds “The Edge of Totality” event will offer camping, entertainment, and food trucks for a festive atmosphere.

For those seeking eclipse viewers, the Crawford County Welcome Center will be distributing solar eclipse glasses from Tuesday to Friday, between 9 am and 4 pm. It is important to note that there is a limit of one pair per person, and distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

“We are excited to contribute to the community’s eclipse experience by providing solar eclipse glasses to our local students and staff,” said Director Kaylee Gildersleeve of Crawford County Recreation & Tourism. “In addition to the donation, we invite everyone to participate in the diverse range of events planned throughout the county. It’s a fantastic opportunity to come together, enjoy the celestial spectacle, and create lasting memories.”
